Hat Heat Press Instructions

Follow these instructions to securely apply custom patches to hats using a heat press for a clean, durable, and professional finish.

Step-By-Step Pressing Instructions

1. Position Your Patch

Place your patch in the desired position on your hat and secure it using heat-resistant thermal tape. This ensures the patch stays perfectly aligned during the pressing process.

2. Load the Hat onto the Press

With the brim pointing upward, fit the hat around the lower platen of your hat press. Cover the patch with a protective guard sheet and tape it in place to prevent heat damage during pressing.

3. Heat Press

Set the top platen temperature to 280°F and the bottom platen to 320°F. Use medium pressure (4–6) and press for 45 seconds. Once finished, allow the hat to cool for at least 30 seconds before removing the thermal tape.

Additional Details

Hat Presses with Top Heat Only

If your hat press only provides heat from the top platen, set the temperature to 340°F and press for 45 seconds using firm pressure. The additional heat ensures the adhesive backing melts properly for a secure bond.

Applying Patches on Beanies

For beanies, use the recommended settings of 350°F for 20 seconds. Secure the patch with thermal heat tape before pressing to prevent movement.

Important Note

PVC Rubber Patches and Metallic Flex Patches require both top and bottom platen heat for proper adhesion. Using only top heat may damage the patch material and prevent it from bonding correctly.

Washing Instructions

Our custom patches are designed to withstand up to 50 home washes. For the best results, machine wash hats and garments in cold water and avoid excessive heat during drying.

Disclaimer

We recommend testing your heat press settings on a sample material before applying patches to your final product. Heat, pressure, and fabric types may vary. We are not responsible for any damage caused during the heat application process.
